About Shih Chien University
Shih Chien University was founded in 1958 by Mr. Tung-Min Shieh, then named Shih Chien College of Home Economics. The name "Shih Chien" means "practice", taken from the philosopher Wang Yangming: knowledge is the beginning of practice, doing is the completion of knowing.
The institution was renamed Shih Chien College of Design and Management in 1991 and was promoted to university status in 1997.
Today the university comprises the Colleges of Human Ecology, Design, Management, Business and Information, and Culture and Creativity, across campuses in Taipei and Kaohsiung.
