About Aletheia University
The history of Aletheia University goes back to 9 March 1872, when Rev. Dr. George Leslie Mackay of the Presbyterian Church in Canada landed in Tamsui for evangelism and medical work.
The school was built on the Paotaipu hilltop — the university's present site — planned and supervised in person by Rev. Dr. Mackay. Per the university, it was the first Western school in Taiwan's educational history.
On 1 August 1999 the Ministry of Education approved its renaming to Aletheia University ("aletheia" means "truth" in Greek). The university now has four colleges, among them the College of Management and Information with six departments.
